This Used 1974 Fender Jazz Bass in Natural is in on trade. It is a beautiful example of a classic. The neck is straight and plays great with nice low action thanks to some low and wide frets. The body shows signs of being somebody's #1 for years with some dings and dents, weather checking, and a sweet patina thanks to its 47 glorious years on this earth. The pickups were replaced with Pure Vintage 74 Jazz Bass Pickups by us here at the shop. Included with the Bass is a Non-original Fender plastic hardshell case.
The pots all date back to 1974. We recently installed a set of Pure Vintage 74 Jazz Bass pickups in this bass after discovering one pickup to be a replacement and one D.O.A.. This fresh pair of pickups does a fantastic job at nailing Vintage J Bass tones. From vintage bobbin construction to genuine original-era cloth wiring, all Fender Pure Vintage pickups are wound to precise specifications for authentic, traditional Fender tone and performance. With a versatile vintage voice full of low-end warmth and their distinct midrange, Fender's Pure Vintage '74 single-coil Jazz Bass pickups are the ideal solution for the bass player who prefers slap-style funk, soulful fingerstyle playing, and aggressive pickups. We have the original neck pickup that was rewound by Tom Brantley who makes Geddy Lee's pickups!
This bass is a refret away from being a stunning instrument. The finish on the neck is chipped in a few spots, especially over the fret ends which is pretty common. The finish on the neck is polyurethane, as was the norm at the time for Fender. Poly chips, nitro wears. A refret would be the perfect time to strip the neck and refin in Nitro. Just sayin'! This is certainly a Player's Piece and it will serve its next Master well for the next 50 years!
Nobody treats used guitars as we do at The Music Gallery! Every trade-in goes through an inspection, cleaning, restring and set up before being put out on sale. We even put guitars with bad frets through our Plek machine if need be. If this service piques your interest learn more here or give us a call!
