This Fender Custom Shop 1963 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic in Candy Apple Red is striking! The light (7 lb 8 oz) Alder body is finished in a dazzling candy apple red. One of the more popular colors in the Fender line and one look at this guitar you can see why.
How does it sound? Fender has taken it's iconic Texas Special and cranked it up a notch with these hand-wound Ancho Poblano pickups. The Ancho poblanos have a spectacular spicy and gritty tone while retaining clarity and balance. The bridge pickup has that wonderful midrange bite. The neck pickup is rich and lush with just a hint of high sparkle. Lows remain clear and defined. The 2 and 4 positions have just the right amount of quack. Not too spiky but plenty of kick for rock and blues soloing. These pickups tame beautifully with a slight roll of the volume or tone. If you need more vintage, roll off 25%, want it to roar back to life, crank it up!
The 60's Oval C profile is fast and easy to play. Bends and fast licks are effortless. Designed for long hours of playing. A great all around neck. A 9.5" radius sits atop the AAA Dark Rosewood fingerboard as do 21 6105 frets. The scale length is 25.5" and the nut is 1.650" wide. This is a very classic C shaped feeling neck with player friendly specs that make this guitar playable no matter the genre, position, or style.
The Journeyman Relic process is a light aging process that add's 'loving wear' in all the calssic spots. Some light weather checking, dings, dents, and a slightly thinned finish on the back of the neck make these feel perfectly broken in.
