This Fender Custom Shop Telecaster Custom Journeyman Relic in Aged Black weighs 7 lbs 11 oz. This Tele Custom features some player-friendly specs like a 9.5" fingerboard radius, 6105 frets, and a 4 bolt neck design.
The neck on this guitar is made from AA Flame Maple that has been rift sawn for added stability. The fingerboard is made from Plain Maple and carries a 9.5" fingerboard radius and 6105 frets. The 60s Style Oval C Neck profile was used and this neck measures .850" in depth at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th. It is a full-feeling neck without being too big or bloated.
The body is made from 2 pieces of Swamp Ash that were sorted for weight. This helps the guitar weigh 7 lbs 11 oz. Finished in Aged Black and then aged to Fender's Journeyman Relic level of distressing, this is a simple yet great-looking guitar.
The bridge pickup is a hand-wound Original Black Guard Single Coil that captures all the awesome of the earliest Fender pickup. Biting, bright, barking, all the B words! While the Wide Range Humbucker in the neck position provides a thicker, beefier tone which is the perfect compliment to the bridge. You'll find the perfect balance of the 2 pickups in the middle position. Each pickup has its own volume and tone control and is accessible alone or in tandem via the 3-way pickup selector switch.
