The Fender J Mascis Telecaster in Bottle Rocket Blue Flake features a slick, medium-large flake Sparkle Finish with a Mirror Pickguard!
The color jumps off the wall and grabs your eye! Don't believe me? Well, the pickguard is literally a mirror so you can see the look of amazement in your own eyes when you 1st gaze upon it!
Look, this ain't your Country Tele. This is a Tele with a bad-itude. The top-loader bridge, Alder body material, and 58 pickups steer this guitar towards a time when people were starting to distort amps, crank up Marshalls and play with more edge and attitude. J. Mascis' guitar tones are clean, so if you are looking for a Tele to rip and roar, you may have found it!
The neck is worth combing over because it has a unique combo of specs. The nut width is wider than vintage at 1.6875". 21 Jumbo Frets compliment the 9.5" fingerboard radius perfectly. The J. Mascis Neck Profile is a C shape that has some decent-sized shoulders on it. So it's just a little fuller feeling than its depth dimensions would indicate. Classic Fender Scale Length of 25.5" keeps the strings feeling taut.
From the Fender Website... An icon of alternative rock, J Mascis’ penchant for running Fender® guitars into stacks of amps to create massive fuzzy riffs, incendiary leads, and huge hooks have made his work in Dinosaur Jr. and on solo records an indispensable part of rock history, influencing countless artists to follow.
The J Mascis Telecaster® recreates J’s favorite guitar, an original 1958 top-loader Tele®, with which he recorded most of his lead work throughout his career. Features include a Dazzling Bottle Rocket Blue Flake finish, mirrored chrome pickguard, custom J Mascis Telecaster pickups, top-loader bridge, Road Worn® maple neck, and hardware.
