This 2017 Fender Limited Edition American Elite Mahogany Telecaster Thinline Natural is in on trade and it is in great shape. It is clean, cosmetically with nothing in terms of wear and tear worth mentioning. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod is functioning properly. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case.
Never shying away from a cool opportunity affords great stories and this Limited Run from Fender certainly has a cool story. The Mahogany used for this run was rescued from Honduras after Hurricane Mitch in 1998. After a number of years, the wood had cured, dried out, and dehydrated to appropriate moisture levels and Fender made these guitars from the supply. The fact that this Thinline Tele was constructed from materials that survived one of the deadliest hurricanes in all of recorded history, is quite cool.
The neck is made from Maple and is carved to the Elite Neck profile which features a C to D Compound Shape. The C feels very comfortable in the lower positions for open chords while the D makes the higher frets feel far more appropriate for leads and bar chords. The fingerboard features a compound radius that goes from 9.5" to 14". A compound radius offers superior playability for anyone looking to utilize every fret of the guitar. 22 Medium-Jumbo Frets are installed and offer a fantastic playing surface that allows for easy bends, vibrato, and 1.685" nut width and 25.5" scale combine for a familiar feel though slightly wider than Vintage Spec.
The bridge pickup is a Gen 4 Noiseless which offers 60-cycle free single-coil tones. The neck pickup is a Shaw 1T Humbucker, which offers clear, articulate tones, especially for a humbucker. One can't help but think of Keef with an HS Tele in hand! A master volume, master tone, and three-way pickup selector switch allow you to find the sound you are looking for with ease.
From the Fender Website... As a manufacturer, we consider ourselves stewards of the environment—we make sure great wood gets turned into premium Fender instruments and into the hands of players. Not only are we dedicated to conscientious sourcing of tonewood to craft our instruments, but we’re also constantly searching for alternate woods and materials, including rescuing wood that otherwise may have languished on the forest floor.
A departure from Fender’s traditional tonewood choices, the 2017 Limited Edition American Elite Mahogany Tele Thinline tempers the traditional Tele bite with the rich sound and warm look of mahogany. Over the course of its journey from the forest floor to the player’s hands, this body wood has weathered natural disasters, acquiring more than a little mojo along the way.
