The standard Sitka Spruce top has been torrefied with Taylor's roasting process. This process removes some saps, resin, and moisture from the wood, essentially aging the cellular structure to look like that of much older timbres. Not only does this aged some rigidity to the wood but it darkens it a bit, visually, as well. The guitar is then finished in Satin Shaded Edgeburst, a great-looking subtle burst.
The back and sides are made from quilted Sapele. This tonewood qualifies as a more recent arrival than rosewood or mahogany. Sapele is a wonderful species of wood that shares characteristics of Mahogany and Maple, making it an absolutely phenomenal tonewood. Plus, this the figuring you'll see on this stuff is so much more impressive than what you find on mahogany.
The neck is made from Sapele and it is toped with an Ebony Fingerboard. A wider than normal nut width of 1.875" gives your left hand a little more space to work with. 25.5" scale length helps keep the strings feeling taut and helps this beauty project with the best of them. A set of Satin Black Tuners gives this alluring looking guitar a dark edge.
This model comes with Taylor's Expression System 2. This pickup system is built into the bridge with 3 calibrated sensors which enable incredible dynamic range and response. Taylor's easy-to-navigate onboard preamp makes quick work of getting dialed in.
