A Martin D-41 is already a thing of glory. When you have it made in the Custom Shop, built with an Adirondack Spruce top, and finished in Ambertone Sunburst you have, quite possibly, helped the D-41 achieve it's potential! This guitar certainly helps engage that discussion. We chose Quilted Maple for the binding on the body and fingerboard which adds another slick design element. An Abalone rosette and top edge binding add a little bling to things. The Cocobolo back and sides not only add richness and depth to the tone, it also add's a look that you just can't find on the shelf. Well, most shelves. When you come to the Music Gallery, this kind of stuff is quite normal!
The combination of the Adirondack Spruce top with Cocobolo back and sides gives this guitar a huge, bold tone with deep, rich overtones. It absolutely sounds 3D and fills the room! Strum a chord and it just explodes off this guitar with a sweet, full bodied bloom to appreciate on the decay. It has excellent definition, sustain, and dynamic capabilities. Flat picked the notes are snappy and clear. When finger picked it reacts well to your touch, whether light or when you are digging in, the tone is still marvelous.
The performing artist neck profile is designed for comfort and easy playability. It's just the right thickness for most sized hands. The neck is made from Mahogany and then topped with an Ebony fingerboard for a luxurious look. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more striking Martin Custom Shop D-41 Acoustic Guitar any where else but The Music Gallery!
