Louder and tighter feeling than the 000, the OMC features 25.4" scale and a cutaway for snappy string tension and unfettered fret access. Martin keeps making feature laden guitars that are geared towards the modern performer who doesn't want to shy away from tradition. The OM model has long been a Martin Favorite but the OMC combines the classic Martin Formula with some modern twists.
The guitar is constructed using Sitka Spruce as the top. Indian rosewood was chosen for the back ands sides. Martin's Select Hardwood (so either mahogany or sapele) is topped with an Ebony Fingerboard. The Modern Belly Style bridge is also made from Ebony and features a drop-in Saddle made from compensated White Tusq. The nut is made from bone and the guitar is treated to the Plek Process at the Martin Factory.
The neck is carved to Martin's Modified Low Oval neck Shape with the high performance taper. This keeps the neck a bitt slimmer as you climb the frets. Many older guitars are known for getting fatter, deeper as you work your way up but this combo from Martin has players remarking at how playable Martin Guitars are these days.
Scalloped Braces are what allow this guitar to sound on the next level. Scalloping allows for a more free to move top, resulting in more power, projection, and presence! There has always been lot of hype about all sorts of things that can and do influence tone. Well, Martin has certainly proved to us that scalloped braces are the only way to go if you want the best sounding Martin guitar.
