The Martin sound has had a huge impact on the word of recorded music. The 000-18 has long been a favorite for those who prefer Sitka and Mahogany but with out the boomy low end of a Dreadnaught or Rosewood, for that matter. A Mahogany and Sitka small bodied guitar is so sonically uniform, is amazing how this small bodied guitar can cut through a mix like a hot knife through butter!

The Martin 000-18E Retro represents the most significant advancement of our era in amplified acoustic sound. Based upon a beautiful 1940 14-fret 000-18 "donor" guitar from the Martin Museum collection, this 24.9" short scale model produces clear and expressive response for stage or studio use. With modern performance and playability, the 000-18E Retro offers the visual and tonal integrity of the genuine mahogany auditorium guitars from the pre-war era.

Thanks to it's more modern neck profile with the Modified Low Oval Shape and High Performance Taper, this is a Martin with Vintage Tones and Modern Playability, truly the best of both worlds! The neck is made of select hardwood then topped with a black Ebony Fingerboard. Some Old Style Abalone Inlays are a nice, subtle touch. A Satin Finish on the neck keeps it dry, smooth and fast no matter how hot your hands get. 1.75" Nut Width is great for finger picking and strumming, a like. A nice, comfortable nut width for most players.

The back and sides are made from Genuine Mahogany which help make this guitar sound much more powerful than you'd expect. This is also thanks in part to a nice Sitka Spruce top that is constructed with Scalloped Braces and placed in the X Pattern. The result is a vintage sounding Martin that sounds balanced, articulate, and great at low or high volumes.

The Music Gallery of Highland Park is proud to be an authorized Martin Guitar Dealer. Blending their Vintage Recipes with modern Manufacturing has given guitar players the best guitars Martin can make. These instruments have never been more playable, more consistent or more righteously priced.
