A Sitka Spruce Top is adhered to Sapele back and sides via Scalloped Spruce Braces arranged in an X pattern. This helps with projection and proving the classic 'scooped' Martin sound.The top is finished with a high gloss while the back, sides and neck are finished with satin for a smooth and always dry feel. The back and sides are made from Sapele, a Sustainable Wood that is almost indistinguishable from mahogany in both looks and tone.
The neck is made from select hardwood and carved to the Performing Artist shape. The high performance neck taper is also present, keeping the neck more narrow as you climb. 25.4" Scale Length gives the strings a taut feel and he guitar some serious power. 1.75" Nut Width, a nut cut from white corian, and a Richlite Fingerboard come together for a very playable guitar.
