Ever wondered what Candy Apple Green, a color most commonly associated with the Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster, would look like after going through the relic process? Well, check this Fender Custom Shop 1961 Stratocaster Relic out! This is a seriously stunning guitar and the patina that the relic process puts on top of things, takes this color above and beyond. We have all the classic Relic spots like chips, dings, dents, some arm wear, buckle rash, weather checking, and the lacquer on the back of the neck is thinned a touch.
The neck is made from a piece of Quartersawn Maple and carved to a very comfortable 60 Style Oval C neck Profile. It's a little on the slim side, more like a Medium-Slim feel. It is topped with a AAA Rosewood Fingerboard that is cut to a 9.5" radius and fretted with Jescar 57110 fret wire that does the Vintage Tall thing perfectly. We have classic Fender nut width and scale length that give the guitar an immediately familiar feel. An Alder body helps gives the guitar a powerfully forward sounding guitar. Weighing in at 7 lbs 12 oz, this Strat is a little heavier than some of our other feather weights but is still extremely comfortable when on a strap due to being well balanced.
The pickups are a set of the famed Texas Special Single Coil pickups but these are handwound. These Texas Specials are nice and hot when your volume is on 10. Great for pushing a tube amp into drive or flat out gain, if the traditional Single Coil is a little too weak for you, you MUST hear a set of these handwound's! They are tied to a master volume, 2 tone controls and a 5 way switch allowing you to easily dial in all the classic tones.
