Gibson is back in 2019 with a focus on great guitars with more reasonable prices, and player friendly features that are time tested. No more robots, no more malfunctioning tuners, no more changing tunings without setting string gauge and intonation... GONE! The 235 is going to activate the G.A.S. of any one who ever loved the ES-135 or 125. This is a semi hollow instead of a true hollow body, though. Perfectly at home in Rock, Jazz, Rockabilly, Blues, Country... aside from high gain scenario's this guitar has tons of applications. Plus, it is super light weight at only 6 lbs 13 oz making it perfectly easy to manage when on a strap.
The body is made from laminated maple and poplar with some light figuring on the outer ply. It is finish in trans red and given a clear coat with nitro cellulose lacquer. It is a very cool looking guitar that, despite it's stripe down approach, still has a very elegant look. The neck is made from 1 piece of Maple and carved to a healthy feeling rounded C shape. Not too thick, not to thin, just a nice medium c sized neck. A Rosewood Fingerboard with a 12" radius and 22 medium jumbo frets allow for easy big bends, vibrato at your leisure and a smooth n' fast playing surface. Classic Gibson scale length of 24.75" is present for a slinky feel and a bone nut ensure great tuning and loud acoustic volume.
A pair of Burstbucker Pro Humbuckers deliver power tones but with musicality at their forefront. Individual pickup volume and tone controls are teamed with a 3 way switch. Tons of the tones from your favorite records are found with a little patience. Also helping the tone be super sweet are brass saddles strapped to an ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge. The MTC Plus Circuit is hardwired with Orange Drop Capacitors for smooth tapering.
Gibson is ripe for a renaissance and models like this one give us the warm fuzzies. A very cool, rather affordable guitar that puts quality and performance ahead of everything!
