The Epiphone SG Standard 61 Maestro Vibrola from the new Inspired by Gibson Collection recreates the original SG from 1961 with a newly designed 60s style Maestro Vibrola. A Mahogany Body starts the recipe off right. This wonderful tonewood has been the main ingredient in just about all solid body Gibson Guitars. The neck is also made out of Mahogany, just like on a Gibson SG. The fingerboard is made from Indian Laurel, a perfectly appropriate substitute for Rosewood. Tone-wise, one would be hard-pressed to hear. the difference between Laurel and Rosewood. The SlimTaper Neck Profile allows for fast and furious riffing. A 12" fingerboard radius, 24.75" scale length, 1.69" nut width, and 22 medium jumbo frets round out the details.
A ProBucker 2 Humbucker in the neck position carries some decent output. If you want fat singing lead tones, this pickup is a great choice. The bridge pickup is a ProBucker 3 and is a real ripper! This pickup pushes tube amps into blissful overdrive nice and easy. A 3-way toggle switch allows access to each pickup individually or in tandem.
