The Fender 2019 Limited Edition American Original '50s Stratocaster in Mary Kaye White Blonde celebrates one of the most well-known early Stratocasters! Mary Kaye was a Hawaiin born Guitarist whose career ran from the 1940s-1960s. In 2003 Fender honored Mary with her own signature model and now we have a Limited Edition American Original version of her White Blonde beauty!
The Mary Kaye Strat features a Swamp Ash body for a bright, expressive sound. Typically found on Tele's, Ash adds some sweet top-end kerrang to the top end. When teamed with a Maple neck, you get a very bright Stratocaster but without it being sharp, brash, or brittle. I can't help but hear Buddy Holly songs when I hear this guitar. If you dig the mid-50s Rock N' Roll thing, this is a perfect choice.
The neck is made from Maple and features a large soft V profile. This neck is NOT a typical Strat neck, with more depth at the 1st fret giving it a full feeling from the nut to butt. The fingerboard radius is 9.5" and 21 Vintage-Tall Frets are installed. These to slight changes to truly vintage specs make a huge difference regarding playability. 25.5" Scale Length and 1.650" Nut Width provides classic Fender feel.
Fender's Pure Vintage 59 Pickups for the Stratocaster come installed in this model. Built to evoke the original era of the Fender Stratocaster, these single-coil '59 Strat pickups produce a round, warm tone with a sweet edge. All 3 pickups in the set offer 5.9k of resistance and 2.6 henries of inductance. What those number means in terms of tone is a vintage flavor that is medium/low on the output scale. They sound warmer and richer than other Fender pickups with more output and have slightly scooped mids for a very era-specific Fender sound. Classic Strat controls of a Master Volume, 2 tone controls, and a 5-way switch make finding your sound a breeze.
