The Fender 2020 Evangelion Asuka Telecaster pays tribute to the Neon Genesis Evangelion series favorite character, Asuka, and her suit design - the guitar even comes with a certificate and graphics of the character carrying this very Tele! Unlike anything else we have seen wearing a Fender logo, this Japanese Made Instrument-meets-Art is the most striking guitar in the shop! A limited-edition model from 2020 will most likely be the only one we see! Number 489 in the series this one is 'Serial Nunber JD20020102'. Seriously, this whole run of guitars features this spelling error making it the 'Frank Thomas Giving the Middle Finger on a Baseball Card' of the guitar world

The right ingredients for a 60s era Tele are all present here: Alder, Maple, Rosewood. That combo has served many players right, especially for those looking for a Tele that rocks not clucks. The amazing paint job and matching pickguard are meant to resemble the suit Asuka wore. Asuka who? Man, I dunno but this thing looks fantastic regardless and I would rock it regardless of the fact that I have no clue about the show or character it is referencing. THAT'S how cool it is!

It's got a very playable Chunky U Shaped Neck on it that will surely make most Tele Player's happy. With some extra girth over a typical Strat neck, this neck fills the hand perfectly. A 9.5" fingerboard radius allows for easy bends and vibrato, with the Narrow Tall frets providing a tall surface to work with. 25.5" scale length and 1.650" nut width cover the important details.

The Alumitone Pickups certainly are different and they are quite cool looking! A single-coil and a humbucker give us the best of both worlds and if you are looking for a new tonal flavor, this Tele delivers!  An onboard master volume, master tone, and three-way pickup selector switch round out the controls.

Fender Japan doesn't release many guitars like this and regardless of whether you know the Anime Show referenced by this build, it IS cool! The color scheme, the lines,  the vibe, it's easy to see all the little cosmetic touches that truly set this Limited Edition Telecaster apart!
