This Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt '56 Active Stratocaster Relic by Todd Krause in Black is something to behold! Loaded with Eric Clapton Stratocaster Electronics then built like a 1956 Strat, this beautiful instrument combines the best of the way things were and the way they are!
Todd Krause has become one of the most well-known builders at the most well known electric guitar manufacturer. And that's why he builds for Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and scores of other famous artists. This guitar feels like your favorite pair of jeans. It is expertly relic'ed for a feel that is undeniably silky smooth. Not only does it feel great, but it also sounds fantastic too.
Thanks to the set of Vintage Noiseless pickups, this guitar sounds bright, clear, bell-like, and expressive but without any 60 cycle hum. We had Todd add the Clapton Signature Strat Electronics (as Eric is currently getting them) to blend 'Blackie' with the Modern Clapton Signature Strat. The result is a sonically versatile Strat that can go from Lay Down Sally to Crossroads with the roll of a pot. Even if you aren't a Clapton Fan, you'll love the variety of tones this Masterbuilt Instrument offers and the level of play it brings to the table!
The neck is made from Rift Sawn Maple and carved to the Eric Clapton Soft V Neck Profile fit for the Man, himself! It has a 9.5" fingerboard radius and is topped with Vintage Frets for an accurate Clapton playing experience. We have a depth of .820" at the first fret which tapers up to a .920" at the 12th fret. Extensive fretboard wear and a stripped back of the neck give this instrument a perfectly broken-in feel. The ultimate in Hot-Dogged Fret Ends and rolled fretboard edges make this neck undeniably comfortable.
