This Fender Custom Shop 1960 Telecaster Custom Relic in 2 Tone Sunburst is stunning! From the double-bound body to the flat-out gorgeous shade of 2 Color Sunburst, this Tele Custom is on fire! Expertly relic'd by the Fender Custom Shop, this brand new guitar comes looking like it's been around the globe a few times already.
2 Tone Sunburst is a classic Fender Finish, and it looks as good on this Tele Custom as it possibly can! The color pops a little extra thanks to the Double-Bound body which adds visual lines that the eye likes. This guitar has been aged at the factory so it is loaded with Vibe and Mojo. The sides of the guitar are finished in Plum, which gives this guitar a unique 2-Tone finish. We have seen a few Customs with these Plum Sides and they never hang around for long!
The Body of this Tele Custom is made from Ash. Most Customs are Alder so this is certainly an upgrade. The glorious tonewood that is Swamp Ash helps this guitar weigh in at 7 lbs 3 oz. This is a comfortable weight for any Tele so long nights with it slung around your neck should be easy-peasy.
The neck is made from 5/4 Quarter Sawn Maple. Maple is already a stable and sturdy wood but when you quartersaw it, we see an uptick in rigidity and stability. Sure, it takes a little more raw material but the end result is worth it! The 60 Style Oval C Profile is topped with a AAA Rosewood Fingerboard that carries a 9.5" radius. There are 21 x 6105 Frets installed for a nice tall feel. 1.650" nut width, 25.5" scale length, a 1st fret depth of .790" and .930" at the 12th fret complete the important details.
A set of Handwound Twisted Tele Single-Coil Pickups were chosen for this model and they are sublime! The neck pickup sounds more open, airier, more like a Strat, and less like a covered/muted single coil. The bridge pickup is steeped in Vintage Sauce but carries a little more output to grease the signal path a little. A master volume, master tone, 3-way switch, and Wax Paper Cap cover the important electronic details.
