Here we have a Heavy Relic 1969 Stratocaster from Paul Waller, Masterbuilder at the Fender Custom Shop! Lots of cool thing to notice with this one of a kind guitar, like the Large Headstock, a AA Figured quartersawn Maple neck, an expertly executed Heavy Relic Job, a lefty tremolo, reversed bridge pickup angle, and a wealth of tones that are totally quintessential! It's like if an SRV and Hendrix Strat were combined into one guitar!
A perfectly carved, Modern C Shaped Neck feels full in the hand without being bloated or hard to handle. The fretboard has been carved to a 9.5" radius and then topped with Vintage Upgrade frets, a taller than vintage fret with a nice modern feel.
A set of Josephina Handwound Texas Special single coil take your tube amp in to overdrive in an assertive, yet musical way. They sweeten up beautifully with a roll off of the volume and/or tone in a way that only hand wound pickups can. It's rare that a pickup can sound as good with the guitar's volume knob on 3 or 4 as it does on 10, but this '69 Heavy Relic Strat seriously delivers! A Master Volume, 2 tone controls, and a 5 way switch feel familiar and grant you access to all the classic, iconic tones. The lefty tremolo functionality can take a minute to get used to buy once you summon the spirit of Stevie, you should get the hang of it!
