We all know that relicing is an art form. Some are much better than others. Some look cool but not authentic. Some look authentic but not as cool as those heavily worn. Dale always seems to combine the well-worn look with the kind of wear you'd expect to see on someone's #1. This Heavy Relic in Candy Apple Red looks exceptional! Beaten, battered, and bruised with all sorts of scars that add to its mojo.
The neck is made from rift sawn maple and carved to a 60 oval c profile. It measures in at .820" at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th fret. The fingerboard is made of AAA Rosewood and the fingerboard radius measures in at 9.5" This is a fast feeling, skinny neck built to RAWK! 25.5" scale length and 1.650" nut width combine for a familiar feel with taut, snappy strings.
The pickups set is compromised of three, hand-wound by Josephina Single Coil Pickups. In the neck position, we have a 69, the middle position a Fat 50s, and in the Bridge position a Texas Special. A Master Volume along with 2 tone controls and a 5-way switch round out the electronics. This is a marvelously versatile guitar that can run the gamut of genres and decades with ease.
Gold Hardware was selected for this build to add another eye-catching layer to the mix. A set of Locking Tuners was used and done so with a tongue-in-cheek approach since these locking tuners look brand new. Hey, those vintage tuners aren't for everyone and when you added modern hardware to an otherwise Vintage Guitar, this is what you saw!
