A Winter 2019 NAMM Show Score! This 1965 Stratocaster Relic is finished in the very hot right now, Charcoal Frost Metallic and then treated to a Journeyman Relic distressing for a lightly aged but heavily loved vibe. The period correct wood selection of a Alder, Maple and Rosewood are elevated by sorting for weight or darkness then quarter sawing.
To start, we have a Quartersawn AA Flame Maple Neck carved to a 65 C Shaped Neck Profile. It is topped with a AAA rated Rosewood Fingerboard that was selected for it's dark and rich look. The fingerboard is carved to a 9.5" radius and then topped with 6105 frets. Nut width of 1.650" teamed with 25.5" scale helps give this guitar an immediately familiar feel.
A set of Handwound Pickups wound to 1965 Spec are present. They have a little less output than the early 60's pickups and do the glassy top end thing very well. They are also nice and expressive in the in-between positions. Classic Strat electronics are present with a master volume, 2 tone controls, and a 5 way switch.
