The Gibson ES-335 Figured 2019 model is here! Perhaps the perfect blend of form and function, this Vintage looking guitar brings great modern features to the table. Gibson has gotten into "Thermally Engineering" wood, or heat treating it. The Chambered Maple Center Block has gone through this revolutionary process and it age's the tone of the guitar, giving it a truly vintage sound but changing the structure of the resin crystals. The braces inside the guitar are also thermally engineered but are made of Adirondack Spruce, a highly regarded tone wood that always carries a significant upcharge.

The 2019 ES-335 Figured is loaded with a pair of Memphis Historic Spec II humbuckers. The next incarnation of the MHS pickup that appeared a few years back. Arguably the finest clean sounding pickup Gibson has ever made. With a bit more top end openness than one would expect these pickups are never nasally or searing. They are tied to independent volume and tone controls along with a 3 way toggle for the classic Gibson configuration.

The 335 has always been a laminated guitar in terms of the construction of the body. The 2019 Figured ES-335 still has that Maple/Poplar inner layer, but the out layer is made from AAA Figured Maple taking it's look up a few notches, to say the least. Of course applying the Sunset Burst and finishing it in a glassy looking nitro cellulose finish makes this as beautiful as it is tuneful.

The neck is made from Quarter Sawn Mahogany, giving it added strength over flat sawn lumber. It is carved to a Rounded C profile in between a 50's and 60's feel. Not overtly thin like a 60's but no where near an early to late 50's kind of depth. The fingerboard radius is carved to 12" and the medium jumbo frets help make big bends a breeze. Pearloid Small Block Inlays adorn the dark rosewood fingerboard and help make this guitar pop.

Other notable features are an ABR-1 bridge with titanium saddles and a locking stopper tailpiece made from lightweight aluminum. A set of Grover Milk Bottle Rotomatic Tuners help keep it in tune. People love a comeback story and Gibson is ripe for one. After the last few years they've had, seeing a rebirth of what's important to them shift towards a more player centric mindset is thrilling! Stop by and remember how awesome a robot-less Gibson with a bone or nylon nut truly is!
