The Gibson Explorer in Antique Natural is an absolutely Rock n' Roll Machine! The all-mahogany beast rips with a pair of Gibson Humbuckers. If you are looking to play rock, metal, anything on the Dirty Channel of your amp, this guitar deserves a spin.

An all-mahogany body keeps the ingredient list short and sweet. This revered tonewood sounds stunning when loaded with humbuckers. Its naturally warm, mid-range focus and its ability to keep those low frequencies seemingly sustaining forever make it a formidable ax to grind. Since its introduction in 1958, no guitar has left such a strong visual impression as the Explorer, or the Flying V which was introduced at the same time. Quite futuristic at the time of their release, these two have gone on to be staple-guitars found in the hands of some of the world's most prominent rockers.

The neck is also made from Mahogany and carries the much-loved SlimTaper Profile. Fast and furious, this is the Shredder-Approved Gibson Neck Profile found on everything from the 61 SG to the Les Paul Classic. The fingerboard is made from rosewood and carries a 12" radius for a uniformly flat feel from the nut to heel. 1.69" nut width and 24.75" scale length are classic Gibson specs.

For 2021, the Explorer is loaded with a Bursbucker 2 in the neck and a 3 in the bridge. This pair of humbuckers turns things up a notch, quite literally! Normally, a 1 and 2 are chosen for most scenarios but when you need more oomph, more heaviness, a bigger, badder, wall of sound, you go with the 2 and the 3! Each pickup has a volume control, while there is. master tone control, and a 3-way pickup selector.

Gibson is back in 2021 with new leadership and the quality if already heading in the right direction! The first handful of guitars we have seen have had many of the issues addressed. Better cut nuts, even smoother frets, improved finish work, the improvements are quite obvious! We are stocking USA, Custom Shop, and Montana Made Acoustic Guitars again so make sure to stop by the shop when you get the chance to see how the NEW Gibson's stack up!
