The Gibson SG Standard rocks the classic looks and features associated with the late 60's style SG models sought after by many. Even though this SG weighs in at only 6 lbs 8 oz, it's a heavy weight when it comes to tone! The 490R and 490T Alnico II pickups provide the power to drive any amp into an overdriven bliss. Classic SG controls consist of voume and tone controls for each pickup along with a 3 way toggle.
A rounded profile mahogany neck has a bound rosewood fingerboard, long tenon (thru the 19th fret) neck joint, and a solid mahogany body. Providing the backbone for singing sustain are these increasing rare tone woods. A black, 5-ply, full-face pickguard set this SG Standard apart from others... a truly versatile classic.
Gibson is back in 2019 with new leadership and the quality if already heading in the right direction! The first handful of guitars we have seen have had many of the issues addressed. Better cut nuts, even smoother frets, improved finish work, the improvements are quite obvious!
