Wow, we have never seen a Gretsch like this Custom Shop G6128 Duo Jet Roadrunner Gold Sparkle Sunburst over Serape Graphic! Made for the 2020 NAMM Show is truly unique! Kyle Keesler designed this amazing piece and Masterbuilder Stephen Stern brought it to colorful life! The Heavy Relic job exposes the graphic underneath the Sparkle Sunburst, this is truly a one-of-a-kind guitar and we have certainly never seen anything like it before!
Featuring a Gold Sparkle Sunburst over a serape graphic with a heavy relic treatment, copper sparkle binding, and gold hardware. This marvelous creation also features a mahogany body with a laminated maple top, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl inlays, and vintage-style frets, TV Jones T-Armond Super’Tron pickups, tone switch wiring, rocking bar bridge, Bigsby tailpiece, Kluson tuners and a bone nut.
The TV Jones Super'Tron is a replica of the original early 1960's prototype. It is basically a TV Classic with steel blades instead of pole screws and the resulting tone retains classic Filter'tron clarity, but with a bold and full broadband punch. The steel blades used in the Super'Tron provide a larger magnetized surface area than the Classic, producing greater inductance. While the DC Resistance is the same as the TV Classic, you will notice a little more output and body with a slightly more accentuated lower-midrange. Warmer and less aggressive than the mid-1960's Gretsch Super'Trons (which had a bunch of thin laminated steel blades instead of one piece of steel). These are a great choice for fingerpicking, jazz, punk, blues... it has been said that this design in the neck position was loved by Chet Atkins (according to Paul Yandell). We find these to be great for a wealth of styles and are very well suited in any application where a brighter-than-darker humbucker will do. Each pickup has its own volume control, and there are a Master Volume and Master Tone Control along with a 3-way switch.
The neck is made from Mahogany and features the classic Gretsch U Shape. It is topped with an ebony fingerboard that has a 12" fingerboard radius. 22 Vintage Sized Frets are installed and they mesh very well with the 12" radius. Mother of Pearl "Classic Rocker" Inlays A perfectly cut nut and 1.685" nut width provide a well-proportioned playing surface where the strings always seem to be in the right place. 24.6" Scale Length is on the short side and keeps the strings feeling slinky.
