Sapele is the wood specially chosen for the body, however, to up the ante, we have chosen Quilted Pommel Sapele which gives us a unique look with movement from every angle. Rather than having the quilting run across the body from side to side, Pommel figuring is more like ovals or circles of figuring.
Sapele certainly has the look of mahogany but it does come in a little harder on the Janka scale, a little closer to maple. Some find it to be a little brighter than the average piece of mahogany, which is nice since mahogany does air on the dampened/dark side. This one has a rich mid-range, a less dominant low-end than you'd hear with rosewood, and a sweet top-end. A great compliment for any singer, the focused articulation of Sapele is hard to argue with!
A Mahogany neck comes topped with a black Ebony fingerboard and is bound with Indian Rosewood. The neck is carved to the Modified Low Oval shape, features a bone nut, 1.75" nut width, and a satin finish for a smooth, fast, and dry feel.
