The Martin OMJM John Mayer Signature model from Martin, the OMJM is made from Englemann Spruce, Indian Rosewood, Cedar, and African Ebony. It's a small-bodied guitar that sounds very rich and complex thanks to expert design and the top-notch tonewoods selection.
The John Mayer OMJM is a signature guitar that any player can appreciate. It's a perfectly appointed guitar. The Englemann Spruce top makes this a finger pickers dream. It sounds rich, warm, and complex even when picked lightly. With a pick, the guitar brightens up and offers a bit more articulation and volume. The top-end opens up when strummed hard and the guitar starts to cut right thru. The Indian Rosewood Back and Sides give the guitar a classic sound: scooped mids with accentuated Bass and Treble with a lot of top-end sparkle and low-end warmth. The OM sized body helps the guitar respond fast to dynamics. Play it hard or soft, the guitar sounds great no matter what you throw at it. This would make a great acoustic to use for lead purposes as it plays incredibly well and the notes seem to jump right out of it.
The neck is made of Cedar, a very resonant and soft tonewood. Martin has made a couple of other models over the years with Cedar necks and they were quite remarkable. The Cedar seems to vibrate like a tuning fork with a sense of warmth and depth to it. The neck is topped with a gorgeous piece of black African Ebony, a dark and dense tonewood used for high-end guitars from practically every manufacturer. The bridge of the guitar is also made from this same tonewood. The nut width is 1 and 11/16" so it has a slim feel to it compared to some other Martin's. The Low Profile Neck Shape is easy on the hands from the nut to heel. A Bone Nut and 25.4" Scale length are also present.
