This PRS McCarty 594 SingleCut Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar features a Custom Blue Burst that pictures just can not do justice! Sporting a Curly Maple Top, this one is a bit on the Wild Side instead of the ruler tight flame you see on many (gorgeous!) Paul Reed Smith Guitars. This is a Limited Edition Run with the SingeCut body shape and a semi-hollow design which adds depth to the tone and relieves weight.
The SingleCut took it's body design cues from the Les Paul. So much so that Gibson sued them and won! Then PRS appealed and they won so here we are. This model has the Mahogany body routed out before it's Maple Top is applied. The Semi-Hollow guitar adds an acoustic element, extra harmonics, some extra volume, and typical a nice right low end once the guitar is plugged in. This beauty is no different. You wanna rock? Grab a solid-body. You wanna play ANYTHING else? The Semi-hollow is such a musically delicious choice, it's no wonder there are exceptionally hot right now.
The neck is made from Mahogany and then topped with a Dark Rosewood fingerboard. This classic tonewood combo has been around since well before the electric guitar was invented and it is easily one of the 2 most popular neck recipes to this day. Carved to a Pattern Vintage Neck, I have heard guys who love the Pattern Thin say this is too thick, though I find it easier than the old school Wide Fat.
The Pickups are our favorite from PRS. The 58/15LT pickups are the sweetest, cleanest, best coil-tapping humbucker we have ever heard. These pickups feature a lower output so they don't compress and brownout most amps as much as higher output pickups do. The result is more dynamic range, less distortion, and a shocking amount of versatility.
