This 1979 Gibson Explorer E2 Walnut in Natural is in on consignment. It is in nice shape, especially for its age. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod is functioning properly. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case. It does have some rashing on the back along with typical wear you'd expect from an instrument that was played but also well taken care of. The fret are very low and to get maximum playability out of it, a refret would be necessary. However, after being restrung and setup, it's is playing very well, very fast, and feel much like many of the fretless wonders I have been lucky enough to play.
The E2 was only available for 4 years as the next generation of Explorers. We all love Gibson lore and this is yet another one of those models that time forgot! In selling guitars for 20 years this is the 1st I have seen in person.
Nobody treats used guitars as we do at The Music Gallery! Every trade-in goes through an inspection, cleaning, restring, and set up before being put out on sale. We even put guitars with bad frets through our Plek machine if need be. If this service piques your interest learn more here or give us a call!
