This Used 2003 Fender Custom Shop Custom Classic Player Stratocaster in Copper is in on trade. It is in very nice shape in terms of cosmetics and it is fully functioning. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod is functioning properly. Included with the guitar is the certificate of authenticity and original hardshell case. This Custom Shop Strat weighs 8 lbs 3 oz.
It's been a while since we have seen one of these. The Custom Classic Player was, at least to us, the Custom Shop American Deluxe, if you will. While the CS was (at the time) focused more on making authentic vintage reproduction, this model stood out as being a more modern playing guitar with bigger frets and a 9.5" fingerboard radius. Made as NOS, or New Old Stock, and finished with Urethane, these guitars don't age like those finished with nitro. If a permanently glossy, always new-looking finish is your thing then a urethane finish should do ya right.
The neck is made from figured maple. A little birdseye, a little flame, boom, one interesting-looking neck! It's carved to a Classic Player V Neck Profile which feels like a Clapton profile meets a 10/56. The V is never strongly pronounced. The depth at the 1st fret measures in at .873" while the depth at the 12th is .916". That's a pretty slim margin of taper, meaning as the frets climb the neck does not get quite as thick as the average Fender. The nut width is a touch wider than VIntage at 1.685". A fingerboard radius of 9.5" and twenty-two 6150 frets give you an exceptionally playable surface.
The pickups are a set of Vintage Noiseless, the same that go in the Eric Clapton Signature model. These pickups have all the snap and brilliance of a single coil but none of the hum. That's the best of both worlds! Whether you are looking for spanky cleans, with an expressive quack, or high gain, searing lead tones, these Noise Free Singe Coil Stratocaster Pickups can handle it. A master volume, 2 tone controls, and a 5-way switch provide access to all the tones.
If you ever wanted to get into a Custom Shop Strat at a righteous price, the Custom Classic Player was made for you. Also, if you really like a soft V neck profile, this guitar delivers. The spine runs from nut to heel so it's a true V. Another bonus is the truss rod adjusts behind the nut. Lots to appreciate under the Pro Column on the Custom Classic Player model!
Nobody treats used guitars as we do at The Music Gallery! Every trade-in goes through an inspection, cleaning, restring and set up before being put out on sale. We even put guitars with bad frets through our Plek machine if need be. If this service piques your interest learn more here or give us a call!
