This Used 1996 Fender Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1956 Stratocaster Relic in Aztec Gold is here on consignment and it is a pretty cool slice of Fender Custom Shop History! Available only to Diamond Dealers (a term Fender used for their High-End Dealers in the late 1990s) this 50th Anniversary Strat sports an actual Diamond in the Headstock seated in a solid gold Chevron! On top of that coolness, these early relics jobs were performed by Vince Cunetto (of Vinetto Guitars), a true pioneer when it comes to aging guitars. The guitar is fully functioning and it is in good shape, aside from the fact that the Aztec Gold finish had darkened and aged considerably.
We are well-versed in this guitar since we have had one new, in the shop since 1996 and it's STILL in New Old Stock condition! Check out our full Diamond Collection HERE. This Strat is number 33 of the 200 made and it's quite cool to see another one.
A Birdseye Maple Neck was chosen that sports a Soft V neck profile. A 9.5" fingerboard radius is paired with 21 Vintage Frets. 25.5" scale length and 1.650" nut width round of the details. Of course, the solid Gold Chevron with the Diamond Inlay elevates things to the next level!
A trio of Custom Shop American 50s Single Coil Pickups are installed. This pickup set sounds like the Fat 50s but minus a little output. In other words, they sound like Weight Appropriate 50s pickups. (also, it comes with the original Custom Shop pickups).
We have a Tweed Hardshell Case to go along with the guitar, not the original flight case, and a suede gig bag. The guitar is functioning properly, the neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod is functioning properly.
