Look, we all know that certain specs lead to a more playable guitar. Fender has gone ahead and taken those most player-centric specs and made them the stock offering for their Ultra Series. The Jazzmaster has always been a more delicate beast to set up, work with, and play than a Tele or Strat. While this still has the Jazzmaster trem, it plays so much easier than one may expect!
The neck is made from Maple and carved into a Modern D Shape. It's finished with Fender's Ultra Satin Finish which is never sticky and won't slow you down. The Cobra Blue Jazzmaster comes with a Maple Fingerboard that is bound in black, creating a killer look! A compound fingerboard radius from 10"-14" allows for maximum playability at every fret. 21 medium jumbo frets are installed, scale length is 25.5", and the nut width measures in at 1.685".
A pair of Ultra Noiseless Vintage Jazzmaster single-coil pickups are installed. These pickups retain the classic voice of the best vintage Jazzmaster but without the 60 cycle hum. In other words, these pickups play nicely no matter the environment or amount of gain. Each pickup has a volume control, there is a master tone control, and a 3-way pickup toggle allows access to each pickup individually or in tandem. The Slider Switch activates both Thumb Wheel controls flips the phase when they are both on. The S1 switch on the volume control turns both pickups on in Series for a massive increase in output. Phew, that's a lot of explanation for an electronics system!
Yes, we are one of the longest-running Fender Custom Shop Dealers in the world but the USA Made American Ultra Series are the best playing guitar that Fender makes. Period. Relics are great, time machine pieces are cool but a Strat that plays like a Jackson and sounds like a Fender is a real game-changer. We have yet to have anyone play any Ultra Series guitar and not be blown away.
