This Used 2020 Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster® in Vintage White is in on trade after not much time in its original owner's possession. Hey, the Malmsteen Strat is a guitar that requires a special touch, so we have certainly sold a few of them over the years after folks tried them out and discovered they weren't for them. You don't know until you try! If you are looking for a LEAD GUITAR (save your bar chords for a NON-scalloped board!) then this is certainly an interesting candidate. Love it or hate it, the Malmsteen has stood the test of time so it's been doing something right!
"Still the foremost and most formidable practitioner of the genre, Yngwie Malmsteen practically invented neo-classical shred singlehandedly. The guitar he has always done it with is a Stratocaster, and for those who aspire to Malmsteen's flamboyantly fleet-fingered style, the Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster is modeled after the Swedish metal virtuoso's favorite Strat®, right down to its special pickups and scalloped fingerboard. A distinctively designed model for one of the world's most distinctive Strat masters."
A Special Neck profile based on the modern C is present on the YJM Strat but the big thing is the scalloped board. If you hate feeling the fingerboard under your fingers, this is the way around it. When you fret a note, the string only touches the fret unless you push WAY too hard. Notes pop off the fingerboard with crispness, fast attack, and quite easily. The neck and fingerboard are made of maple on the Yngwie Sig. 21 Super Jumbo Frets are installed in the 9.5" radius fingerboard. 1.650" Nut width and 25.5" scale length round out the magic numbers.
The pickups are a set of the YJM Fury Single Coils from Seymour Duncan. This is (obviously) Yngwie's personal set, wound to his spec's by the Master's at SD. Interestingly, they are tied to a 3-way switch instead of a 5 way. Yngwie doesn't have much use for that glassy, quacky sound, so why bother! A Master Volume, a tone for the neck, and a No-Load Tone Control for the middle and neck round out the controls.
Nobody treats used guitars as we do at The Music Gallery! Every trade-in goes through an inspection, cleaning, restring, and set up before being put out on sale. We even put guitars with bad frets through our Plek machine if need be. If this service piques your interest learn more here or give us a call!
