This Used PRS SE Custom 24 Spalted Maple in Vintage Sunburst is in on trade and it is in great shape. This limited-edition electric guitar weighs in at 8 lbs 2 oz and though I am 100% positive it DOES NOT have a Brazilian Rosewood board, the wood selected could pass for it. Leave it to PRS to add so much value to a rather affordable instrument!
Spalted wood is in a class by itself. Each piece shows off unique mineral deposits and figuring that Mother Nature provided. It's kind of surprising to see maple this nice on an SE model but Paul Reed Smith has never been one to shy away from adding value to an instrument.
Tone-wise, this guitar is very Gibson-esque. The wood combo is tried-and-true so as are the 85/15S Humbuckers that sound great. Onboard we have a master volume, and master tone control. There is a push/pull potentiometer used as the tone control for Coil Tapping Functionality.
The neck is made from maple, topped with a stunning piece of rosewood, and features a Wide/Thin profile. This neck absolutely shreds! The fingerboard is bound and it's inlaid with Birds. Even the headstock overlay is made from Spalted Maple for a sweet uniform look.
