MG: Do you have any non-musical hobbies?
J: Yes, I like to cook and despite the threat of career-ending injuries, I like to play hockey.
MG: What sparked your interest in music and has kept you playing all these years?
J: My parents would take me to concerts when I was young and I can always remember thinking when I saw the band that it was the coolest thing ever. I always wanted to be a musician after that.
MG: Have you learned any valuable life-skills through music?
J: You can succeed at anything if you really put the time and effort it takes to achieve that success. Hold a high standard for yourself and take pride in your work no matter what it is.
MG: What advice do you think should be given to every student?
J: Give yourself time to learn and have patience. Learning an instrument can be difficult but you will get it! Most of all, have fun with it.
