Refret your Guitar | The Music Gallery

Refretting your guitar is a scary thing. But it's also a badge of honor. If you can wear out a set of frets, it's because you log long hours playing that instrument. It's probably your favorite guitar and as a result, it see's more hand-time than your other guitars.

We have been refretting guitars for decades but our process has never been better, faster, and more accurate than it is right now. Thanks to our Plek Machine, the hard work has never been easier but you know we go the extra mile! Our repair team can generally turn a refret around in 1 week as long as their is no finish work involved, which is pretty amazing considering all that goes into a Music Gallery Refret.

We start by scanning your guitar in the Plek Machine to get an idea of it's current state. The machine helps us identify whether the guitar needs a refret or just a level and crown. Once we know that new frets will be require, we pull the existing frets and then use the Plek Machine to perfectly plane your fingerboard. We can even re-radius many fretboards or just make it consistently even all the way up for a buzz free playing surface. Once the fingerboard is perfect, we install the new frets. Once the new frets are in, we put the guitar back in the Plek Machine and perfectly level and crown them. After the Level and Crown, we go through an 11 step polishing process to make your frets literally gleam before finally set up.

The results are astounding. Every time, without fail. Even your favorite guitar will play better once it gets treated to this thorough refret process. Give us a call or stop by to discuss details and options!
