This Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster Pro 2025 Relic in Taos Turquoise was supposed to make it to the NAMM Show in January 2025, but it didn't meet the deadline. This happened with a handful of guitars, and we were lucky to snag a few once they were completed! As big fans of the original Strat Pro from the mod-2000s, we were excited to see a 2025 version!
The Pro thinks forward regarding specs and playability, but it retains the classic look of a Fender Relic. This one is finished in Taos Turquoise over an Alder body that helps it weigh in at 7 lbs 13 oz.
The neck is made from Quartersawn Maple and carved to a '60s C Profile. It measures .790" deep at the 1st fret and .930" at the 12th. This should be an instantly familiar feeling neck to anyone familiar with early 60s Custom Shop Strats. The fingerboard is made with AAA-Rated Rosewood, has a 9.5" to 12" compound radius, and 6105 frets installed. This is a great feeling, fast-playing neck!
The electronics offer an interesting pairing. In the neck and middle positions, we have Handwound 65 Stratocaster Pickups with the middle being reverse wound/reverse polarity. In the bridge position, we have a Handwound 69 Stratocaster pickup. A master volume, 2 tone controls, and a 5 way switch cover the electronic controls.
