This Used 2012 Fender Custom Shop Custom Deluxe Stratocaster in Candy Red is here on consignment. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. Included with the guitar are the original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
This model was a mix of elevated looks and more modern specs for a highly playable, beautiful take on the Stratocaster! A AA-Quilted Maple top sits atop a Swamp Ash body which produces a brighter, more jangly tone than an Alder-bodied Strat. The Candy Red Finish (not candy APPLE red), helps pop the Quilted Maple top, giving this Strat a look of its own.
The Neck is made from AA Flamed Maple and has a Figured Maple fingerboard as well. The fingerboard radius is 9.5", and it has 22 medium jumbo frets on it. The neck profile is a Large C with a nice full feel, without it feeling boated. It has some real shoulders on it as well that give this neck a bit of a U Profile. There isn't much taper on the neck, though it does thicken up a bit as the frets climb. The fingerboard edges are rolled for an elevated feel.
The pickups are a set of Fat 50s Abby Handwound Fat 50s Singlecoils. The Fat 50s Pickup takes the classic recipe from the earliest Strats and adds some modern flair into the mix, so they play nicely with modern amps. Having been wound by Abigai Ybarra, they are the most touch-sensitive and nuanced version of the Fat 50s pickups that you can buy. Abby's pickups have been commanding a huge premium on the resale market since her retirement years ago. Her pickups are considered by many to be the best that Fender has ever made.
