The 1954 Les Paul Standard celebrates an accurate reproduction of an early Les Paul. Yes, the Les Paul got its start in 1952 but they were so riddled with problems thanks to bad neck angles that it's not something Gibson could ever reproduce in an accurate fashion. Fast-forward. to1954, the tailpiece is gone, the neck angle is right and lo-and-behold, the Les Paul starts to take off. A pair of P90 pickups meshed with a wrap-around bridge with the timeless look of a Gold Top. The 54 is a unique beast!
