This Used 2000 Gibson Custom 61 Les Paul SG Reissue w/Maestro in Aged Classic White is here on trade. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. The finish has yellowed a bit over the last 25 years, giving it a milky or buttery look and I noticed a couple of small weather checks have appeared. The hardware is tarnished but overall it is in great shape! Included with the guitar are the original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity. This guitar was built in 2000, which was the 1st year of production for the Historic Reissue LP/SG.
This Custom Shop SG commemorates what would become to be known as the SG, though it was still called a Les Paul at the time of its introduction. Quick History: For some reason, Gibson felt a decline in sales in 1961 meant they needed to revamp the Les Paul by completely changing every single thing about it. Great idea! Such a great idea that Les Paul, the man, himself, wanted his name removed from it as he did not help with its design or like its shape. It was 1963-ish when the Les Paul name was removed and the term SG was applied (SG stands for Solid Guitar). In 1968, the LP body shape was reintroduced and the SG has remained a steadfast model in the Gibson product line since.
This model features a lightweight Mahogany body, mahogany neck material, and a rosewood fingerboard. These simple but classic elements combine for a timeless tone, loaded with mid-range growl. It has the Maestro Lyre Tremolo on it which adds nicely to its vibe.
The neck is made from Mahogany and it is topped with a rosewood fingerboard. A perfectly carved Slim Taper Neck Profile makes this guitar play like a dream! Fast and easy with a light feel and low action, this is a great playing SG!
A pair of 57 Classic Humbuckers gives us a wide range of tones to play with. Each pickup has its own volume and tone controls and is accessible via a 3-way pickup selector switch.
