The body of the Ultra II Strat may be their most comfortable yet. It has an extra smooth and deep tummy cut so it hugs your ribcage perfectly. The arm bevel is also perfectly executed for a smooth path to the strings. The reduced and contoured neck heel makes playing at even the 22nd fret easy. Clearly, comfort comes 1st with the Ultra II.
The neck of the Ultra II is made from Quartersawn Maple, a stiffer, more rigid cut of lumber that helps a neck resist shifts in temperature and humidity. The profile itself feels similar to the original Ultra Series Neck as do the compound fingerboard radius, ultra-rolled fingerboard edges, and medium jumbo frets.
A cool new touch is Luminlay Side Dot Inlays that glow in the dark, an exceptionally handy feature on a dark stage/room! The face dots are made of White Pearloid Dots and do not glow, for a traditional look. The fingerboard itself is made of Ebony for a sleek look and exceptionally smooth feel.
New Ultra II Pickups come on all new Ultra Models. The latest iteration of Fender's Noiseless Pickups, these humbuckers in the size of single-coils maintain their Strat-i-ness in all positions but with none of the 60 cycle hum. The Ultra II features an S-1 switch that turns the neck pickup on in positions 1 and 2 to get that much-loved 2-pickup Tele tone, or for all 3 pickups on. Pretty cool!
