We've all fallen for our value-packed Fender Custom Shop 63 Strat Journeyman Relics—if you've ever stopped by the shop, browsed our website, or even just lurked on our social media, you've probably seen a few. We've sold dozens of them over the last couple of years, and for good reason—they've become our all-time best-selling Stratocaster!
A 2-piece alder body, was hand-sorted for light weight. Alder is famous for its punchy, assertive tone, and it's the perfect partner for this neck. If you're a player who likes a little more beef than brightness, alder over ash is the way to go. Its balanced frequency response makes it incredibly versatile and a true tone chameleon. Plus, those perfectly sculpted body contours and great edge radius work mean this guitar is as comfortable on your lap as it is on a strap.
Neck: A quarter-sawn maple neck with a beautiful AAA rosewood fingerboard. Quarter-sawn maple is all about stability—it’s super rigid, which means fewer adjustments for you, even with its slender '60s Oval C profile. The AAA-rated rosewood fingerboard is hand-selected for its stunning darkness, a testament to the Fender Custom Shop's top-notch wood stash. A comfy 9.5" fingerboard radius and Sanko 6105 frets create a buttery-smooth playing surface. The nut width is 1.650" and the classic scale length is 25.5".
- Profile: 60s Oval C
- Thickness: .790" at the 1st fret, thickening to a solid .930" at the 12th.
- Fingerboard Radius: 9.5"
- Frets: Sanko 6105
This neck is a Strat player's dream. It's slim and fast in the lower positions for easy riffing, then tapers up beautifully to give you more to grab onto for big bends and effortless vibrato.
A set of 60s Specs Handwound Pickups, a 5-way pickup selector, a master volume, and 2 tone controls cover the electronics. These pickups deliver that iconic, classic "scooped mids" tone we all love. They offer a sweet, chimey top-end and a round, hollow bass that screams "Stratocaster." They're powerful and full-bodied in positions 1, 3, and 5, with that signature "quack and chime" in positions 2 and 4 that will make you smile every time.
