This Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS in Iced Tea is brand new! Has a more revered, sought-after guitar ever existed than the 1959 Les Paul Standard? Gibson makes reissues of the 59LP in a couple of varieties these days, and while this one sports the VOS finish treatment, it did not take a trip to the Murphy Labs. The aging consists of lightly aged hardware and a dulled finish rather than the full-gloss look you'll find on USA Production Models.
This particular guitar has an Iced Tea nitrocellulose finish, with thicker wavy flames, on its well-bookmatched, flame maple top! A 1-piece, lightweight Mahogany body helps this Les Paul weigh 8 lbs 14 oz. This is a great-looking Les Paul from all angles!
The neck is made from mahogany and is topped with an Indian Rosewood Fingerboard. The carve is the 50s Rounded Medium C Neck Profile, not too thick, not too thin, just the perfect C-meets-D profile. A 12" fingerboard radius and 22 medium jumbo frets give you a fast-playing surface to work with. The 59 LP features a long neck tenon, which adds sustain and resonance to the guitar's tonal palette.
The pickups are a pair of Unpotted Custombuckers with Alnico 3 magnets. These pickups play nicely with both the clean and dirty channel. These are less powerful magnets that have a woody, vintage tone to them right out of the gate. Each pickup has its own volume and tone control, all of it tied together via a 3-way toggle.
