This Used 1969 Martin D-18 Acoustic Guitar in Natural with its Original Hardshell Case is here on consignment. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case.
Overall, the guitar is in nice condition. From what we can determine, the neck was reset, and the job was done quite well. It was also refretted and that job was also well-executed. There isn't much playwear on the body, but the finish shows its age. There are a couple of cracks in the back that have been repaired. They are stable and look worse than they are. There are a few scratches, dings, and dents, but nothing too serious. The tuners were replaced with a set of Schallers.
The neck on this guitar is too die for. Is that perfectly sized Soft V Profile, broken in via the playing of thousands of songs. This neck isn't too thin or too thick, and it has the perfect taper. The neck is made from mahogany, and it is topped with a Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard. This is one of the finest playing Vintage Acoustics I've had the pleasure of playing.
This guitar sounds phenomenal. It's an absolute cannon that produces a rich low end while still maintaining the mid-centric articulation that the D-18 is renowned for. For Bluegrass, Country, Folk, literally ANYTHING, this is a stellar-sounding guitar! The neck and the body are exceptionally resonant in a way that only time can produce. This is an inspiring play on every level and has plenty of life left in it!
