This Used 2013 Gibson Memphis Scotty Moore ES-295 #50 of 81 in Gold Bullion is here on consignment. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. Included with the guitar are the original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity. This guitar was part of a large collection and it has barely been played.
What we have here is an exact duplicate of the guitar that Scotty Moore used in his early days with Elvis. This large hollowbody guitar is loaded with a pair of P90 pickups and produces a strong acoustic tone so it's satisfying to play unplugged as well. The P90 Pickups produce a decidedly 50s tone. If you dig early rock n' roll, this plugged into a Tweed Deluxe is perfection! The guitar was limited in production to just 81 units and this is number 50. It was signed by Scotty Moore down by the treble-side of the tailpiece.
The body is made from laminated maple, both on the top and the back, and the sides are made from solid maple. The neck is made from Mahogany which is topped with a rosewood fingerboard. The fingerboard itself is bound and carries a 12" radius along with 22 Vintage Size Frets. Split parallelogram inlays adorn the fingerboard for an elevated look. It's got a large feel to it, appropriate for the early 1950s.
Overall, this is an exceptionally cool guitar and since Gibson isn't making any hollowbody like this at all these days, pickings are slim! I was surprised to see something so cool walk in on consignment but there are a lot of amazing pieces crawling out of the woodwork lately!
