Not many things about the Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar in Natural need to be changed. In fact, the timeless combo of Sitka Spruce and Indian rosewood has been heard so many times, that it is a guaranteed recipe for success. However, a new neck profile and forward shifted bracing pay homage to both the future and past by offering an unheralded level of playability to match with an even more vintage-sounding D-28.
Shifting the Sitka Spruce Braces forward allows for the top to project and flex more. Giving the guitar more resonance and dynamic capabilities. A change in tone is noticeable, be it good or bad depending on your ear, but we love it! The Sitka Spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides are time-tested favorites, so much so that that recipe is in just about every worthwhile collection.
A neck made of select hardwood is topped with a black Ebony Fingerboard. Providing a striking contrast to the light aging toner on the otherwise blonde Spruce top. A dovetail neck joint used to adhere to the body and neck is a time-tested and preferred method of build for most. It results in what many consider to be a superior sounding and playing guitar, ultimately. The neck features the modified low oval shape, high-performance neck taper, a nut width of 1.75" and scale length of 25.4". It's a very classic feeling Martin but with the added benefits of having gone through the Plek Process during manufacturing

The 184-year-old guitar maker has combined vintage appointments, including open gear tuners, an aged toner top, antique white accents, and a faux tortoise pickguard with a new neck profile to give D-28 enthusiasts a modern feel and comfortable playing experience. Martin has also added forward-shifted bracing to allow greater vibration of the top. The legend just got better!
