The Rickenbacker 360/12 is one of the most recognizable twelve-string electric guitars ever made, and its unmistakable combination of shimmering highs, natural resonance, and legendary jangle has been a defining sound on recordings for decades. With its maple body and maple neck, the 360/12 has a naturally bright, articulate character that pairs perfectly with Rickenbacker's Hi-Gain single-coil pickups. If you're looking for that unmistakable Rickenbacker twelve-string jangle, this is the real deal.
The semi-hollow, all-maple body features a single cat's-eye soundhole on the treble side. Its larger body and semi-hollow construction give the guitar a surprisingly strong acoustic voice, allowing its chorus-like, shimmering twelve-string character to be enjoyed even without an amplifier. Plug it into an amp, however, and the 360/12 really comes alive.
Rickenbacker's Hi-Gain single-coil pickups are responsible for a huge part of the company's legendary recorded sound. The late 1960s simply wouldn't have sounded the same without them. Each pickup has its own volume and tone controls, and a three-way pickup toggle allows the neck pickup, bridge pickup, or both to be selected. The guitar also features Rickenbacker's Rick-O-Sound parallel-mono outputs, which allow each pickup to be sent to its own amplifier. For a truly expansive setup, the neck pickup can be routed through one amplifier while the bridge pickup runs through another—for example, a Deluxe Reverb on one side and a perfectly breaking-up Vox AC-30 on the other.
The maple neck has been slimmed down and re-contoured for increased playing comfort and is topped with a bound rosewood fingerboard featuring distinctive triangle inlays. A 10" fingerboard radius and 24" scale length round out the playing specifications.
The Rickenbacker 360/12 has been a recording standard for more than thirty years, thanks in large part to its haunting, melodic twelve-string chorus and unmistakable character. The slimmed and re-contoured neck makes this iconic design more comfortable to play while retaining the sound and visual identity that have made the 360/12 one of the world's most popular twelve-string electric guitars.
