This Used 1997 Taylor Cujo 14 Grand Auditorium Acoustic Guitar in Natural is here on consignment. Overall, it is in very nice cosmetic condition; however, there are 3 weather checks on the top of the guitar. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case.

In the film Cujo, a prominent tree serves as a backdrop to the story’s tension in several scenes. In 1997, a severe storm passed through the area, and the tree was struck by lightning, sustaining significant damage. The property owner subsequently arranged for its removal.

The tree removal professional who responded to the call was, at the time, pursuing training as a luthier. Recognizing the location from the film and identifying the tree as black walnut, he immediately noticed the exceptional quality and beauty of its grain—an ideal tonewood for guitar construction. Inspired by both the wood and its cinematic history, he contacted Bob Taylor of Taylor Guitars with a proposal.

He explained the significance of the tree and suggested producing a limited run of instruments crafted from its wood. Bob Taylor embraced the idea and purchased the salvaged walnut for use at the factory. From this single tree, Taylor Guitars produced 250 acoustic guitars. Each instrument featured mother-of-pearl inlays illustrating themes from Cujo.

Stephen King was informed of the project and, being an avid guitarist himself, enthusiastically endorsed it. He agreed to sign the interior label affixed inside the sound hole of each guitar. King received guitar number 1 of 250, while Bob Taylor retained number 2. The remaining 248 instruments entered private collections.
