This used Fender Custom Shop 1961 Stratocaster Relic with Handwound Pickups is here on consignment and is truly fantastic. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. Included with the guitar are the original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
On this stellar relic, we have all the classic Relic spots like chips, dings, dents, some arm wear, buckle rash, weather checking, and the lacquer on the back of the neck is thinned a touch. Aside from being beautiful, it plays magnificently and has a set of handwound pickups that are so versatile, it's hard to imagine all these tones coming from one guitar!
The neck is made from a piece of Quartersawn Maple and carved to a very comfortable 60 Style Oval C neck Profile. It's a little on the slim side, more like a Medium-Slim feel. It is topped with a AAA Rosewood Fingerboard that is cut to a 9.5" radius and fretted with Jescar 57110 fret wire that does the Vintage Tall thing perfectly. We have classic Fender nut width and scale length that give the guitar an immediately familiar feel. An Alder body helps gives the guitar a powerfully forward sounding guitar.
The pickups are a set of the famed Texas Special Single Coil pickups but these are handwound. These Texas Specials are nice and hot when your volume is on 10. Great for pushing a tube amp into drive or flat out gain, if the traditional Single Coil is a little too weak for you, you MUST hear a set of these handwounds! They are tied to a master volume, 2 tone controls and a 5 way switch allowing you to easily dial in all the classic tones.
