This Fender Custom Shop 56 Stratocaster Relic in Fiesta Red Masterbuilt by Dale Wilson is easily the lightest weight Stratocaster we have ever seen. At a mere 6 lbs 5 oz, this Strat is a true featherweight and rings with an acoustic resonance that rivals even the finest Teles! We waited 4 years for this guitar to arrive so act fast, this one won't last!
How anyone could make a Strat weigh so little is beyond us! But we all know that Dale Wilson is the man and his builds never cease to amaze us. The body and neck materials must have been extraordinarily light to begin with since this guitar has all the typical Strat parts. Dale also did a great job relic'ing it as it is not over the top but still looks like it has a story to tell. Finished in Fiesta Red with a dark patina, this guitar has a darker look than say a journeyman relic.
The neck is made from quartersawn maple and has a 10/56 Profile. It measures .880" deep at the 1st fret and .980" deep at the 12th. With 6105 frets and a 9.5" fingerboard radius, you get a great playing surface that is fast and smooth. 25.5" scale length and 1.65" nut width give this guitar a classic feel. The 1 piece neck is well-worn for a great feel. The back of the neck is stripped for a smooth, dry, and fast feel. The neck itself is incredibly resonant and lively. It vibrates in your fretting hand with every note.
A set of 1956 Stratocaster Pickups are handwound for the utmost in dynamics and touch sensitivity. With 5 distinct sounds on board, this guitar provides nothing but quintessential 50s-era tones. A master volume, 2 x tone controls, and a 5-way pickup selector switch make finding your sound easy.
