The Fender Custom Shop 1959 250K Jazzmaster Relic is a fantastic take on one of Fender's most distinctive early designs, combining vintage Jazzmaster character with a carefully selected set of specifications that give this particular guitar its own personality. Finished in classic Fiesta Red over an alder body and paired with a beautifully figured AAA rosewood fingerboard, this is the kind of Custom Shop Jazzmaster that looks right at home whether it's sitting in a collection or getting played hard on stage.

The alder body provides the balanced, punchy foundation you'd expect from a great Fender, while the Relic finish gives the guitar the appearance and character of a well-loved vintage instrument. This is vintage-inspired without being overly precious about it—a guitar that's meant to be played.

The neck is crafted from rift-sawn maple and carved to a substantial Large C profile, measuring .850" at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. There's considerably more wood in your hand than you'll find on many modern Fender necks, but the Large C remains comfortable and familiar. The AAA-grade rosewood fingerboard features a 9.5" radius and 6105 Narrow Tall frets, giving the guitar a decidedly player-friendly feel while retaining plenty of vintage Fender character. A 1.65" bone nut completes the neck.

Handwound Jazzmaster Pickups & 250K Controls

At the heart of this Jazzmaster is a set of handwound Jazzmaster pickups, delivering the distinctive combination of clarity, punch, and airy single-coil character that makes the Jazzmaster such a unique Fender design.

What makes this particular Custom Shop build especially interesting is the use of 250K pots for the master volume and master tone controls. That specification gives the electronics a slightly different character than the higher-value pots commonly associated with Jazzmasters, and it's an important part of what makes this guitar a 1959 250K Jazzmaster rather than simply another Custom Shop Jazzmaster.

The control layout remains beautifully straightforward: master volume, master tone, and 250K potentiometers put everything you need right where you'd expect it.

RSD Jaguar Tremolo System

The vibrato system is another particularly cool feature. This Jazzmaster is equipped with an RSD Jaguar Tremolo System, bringing the smooth, expressive feel of the Jaguar-style tremolo to this Custom Shop build. It's a great complement to the Jazzmaster's personality, giving you everything from subtle pitch movement to more dramatic vibrato effects.

The overall combination makes this a very compelling Custom Shop Jazzmaster: Fiesta Red, alder, rift-sawn maple, AAA rosewood, a substantial Large C neck, handwound pickups, 250K pots, and the RSD Jaguar Tremolo System. It's an unusual enough specification to stand apart from the typical Jazzmaster, while still feeling unmistakably Fender.

The Music Gallery has been a Fender Custom Shop dealer since 1987, and we've spent decades buying, selling, playing, and obsessing over these instruments. We particularly enjoy Custom Shop guitars like this one because the interesting stuff is often in the details—the neck carve, pickup winding, electronics, hardware, and wood selection that turn a familiar model into something distinctly its own.

This 1959 250K Jazzmaster Relic comes complete with its Certificate of Authenticity and original hardshell case.
